Those with a Conservative background are unlikely to fall for the same thing as Pentecostals. But it's an equal but an opposite error that plagues them. Conservatives are likely to base their lives around general objective truths such as God is present where two or more gather together (Matthew 18:20), and God loves to hear praises to him. But they can often be inattentive to the individual word that the Spirit might bring.

Yes, God is present, but while he is present, he is able and willing to answer our prayers, heal the sick, bring guidance, bring deliverance, and so much more! Should we not be open to this? I submit to you that this anti-supernaturalism has much more to do with being infused by modernist subculture than infused by Scripture. Wayne Grudem's work may be helpful for you to start with, finding from first principles (Scripture alone) the Work of the Holy Spirit—see Systematic Theology, 1994, Chapter 30: The Work of the Holy Spirit.

Notice also in the other examples talked about here, such as evangelism, where God's relative word, spoken through the Spirit, takes our general understanding about evangelism to the next level entirely by pointing out to us specific people to talk to, or specific things to say. Of course, we don't want to go to equal and opposite error and say that this 'power evangelism' (as some refer to it) is the only way to evangelise, as if God's objective truth is useless. But what I am saying is that we need to be open to the Spirit's leading while we evangelise. The Spirit and the Word operate together in unity.
